The survival of the Jewish people is foretold in the Torah
Taylor says the following on page 183:
The survival of the Jewish people, while incessantly up against dreadful conditions and arduous antagonism, is a mystery that defies all rational explanation. Rabbi Yaakov Emden zt”l says that it is the greatest miracle, even more wondrous than the splitting of the sea. Russian political philosopher Nukolai Berdyaev summed it up well, saying, “[The Jews’] destiny is too imbued with the metaphysical to be explained in either material or historical terms. This fact is well known and has been stated countless times throughout history. Over three hundred years ago, Blaise Pascal told King Louis XIV of France that the survival of the Jews was nothing short of a miracle. Only a Divine document could predict so perfectly the continued existence and detailed history of the Jewish nation.
