Reason 12 - Daily Manna for 40 years Could Not be falsely claimed
The miracle of daily manna over 40 years could not be falsely proclaimed
Rabbi Shmuel Waldman in Beyond a Reasonable Doubt (2004) writes on page 84:
In many ways the manna falling from heaven is the most impressive miracle recorded in the Torah – it has elements that make it even more impressive than the giving of the Torah on Mount Sinai, the Ten Plagues of Egypt, and the splitting of the Red Sea. True, those were awesome miracles that happened in front of millions of people, but they were each basically one-time events. Manna, in contrast, fell continuously for forty years – day in and day out, over and over again; the people had to eat something for those forty years in the desert. It’s inconceivable how someone could have gotten away with writing that the manna fell uninterrupted for forty years in the desert for millions of people if, in fact, the people had not eaten it. |
